WE’VE GOT HISTORY

EST. 1965

Troll is a company synonymous with climbing and mountaineering history. Established in 1965, Troll has been at the forefront of climbing for 60 years.

In the late 1960s we developed the world’s first machined nuts (better than pebbles and tat stored in the brim of your hat!) and sit harness; the infamous Whillans Harness; the world’s first sit harness, the design of which has gone on to inform all harnesses to this day.

We also developed other innovative products from crampons to ascenders that helped some of the best climbers in the world push boundaries in alpine climbing

Throughout the 70s and 80s and 90s we remained at the forefront of the UK and  European climbing scenes.

Troll was defined by innovation alongside the bold colours and prints, at the heart of climbing’s counter-culture origins.

THE FUTURE OF CLIMBING & NOT STANDING STILL

It would be easy to sit back and let our heritage and history carry us but we
believe the face of climbing has changed dramatically since those days of macho
men in lycra or frozen beard types seeing what new peak they can ‘conquer’ and
indeed it continues to change, with a whole new demographic of young and
engaged climbers excited by a sport that is as much a social gathering as it is
a workout.
